ENSHPO Certification

EurOSHM and EurOSHT

ENSHPO believes there is a need for a qualification standard, accepted throughout the European Union, for Occupational Safety and Health Professionals, who more and more are covering managerial positions and contribute to strategic development of enterprises. The EurOSHM (Occupational Safety and Health Manager) standard tries to meet that requirement.

Furthermore ENSHPO has developed a second standard to reflect the level of competence required for professionals working at more specialist level. The EurOSHT (Occupational Safety and Health Technician) standard tries to meet this requirement.

ENSHPO has elaborated and introduced the EurOSHM and EurOSHT standards together with a process for assessing and recognizing such qualifications.
The ENSHPO certification system is a voluntary system.

ENSHPO System is designed also to accept national voluntary certifications if in line with ENSHPO standard criteria. The awarding of the certification is normally based on Basic education, OHS/EHS specific education and training and Work experience.

The current standard is under review to broaden the profile andfully incorporate an Environment protection and sustainability awareness at workplace, in order to qualify an EHSintegrated approach. The standards will be consistent with the EQF (European Qualification Framework) descriptors and ESCO classification.

Benefits of Certification

Certification is the formal validation of conformity to a fixed standard of an object, person, or organization. This confirmation is usually provided by a third party after some form of external and independent review.

In our case the ENSHPO Professional Certification is the validation that the certified professional meets the requirements of Knowledge, Skills and Competence set by the ENSHPO standards to perform the desired role or job. ENSHPO is voluntary.

Its added value is to provide a third party and independent declaration that is beneficial to employers and gives a competitive advantage to the owner of the certification.

Nowadays professional certification has found its way into every industry as it helps employers to evaluate potential hires, select contractors, analyze job performance, market services, evaluate employees and motivate employees to enhance their skills and knowledge.

Certificate holders get the benefit too as it gives recognition of competency; shows commitment to the profession, and helps with job advancement.

The voluntary certification is also often seen as evidence of an individual’s personal drive and motivation, giving them a leg up for raises and promotions.
Embrace certification for yourself, for your profession, but most important, embrace it for the public we serve and protect.
