Digital platform work: Learn more about the first priority area of the Healthy Workplaces Campaign
Digital platform work is a growing employment model in several sectors of the economy, where paid labour is organised through or on an online platform. It provides an accessible entry to the job market, especially for some vulnerable groups, and it offers flexibility. Yet, it brings risks and challenges for occupational safety and health (OSH), including intensive work, isolation, job insecurity, unclear employment status and issues related to the management of tasks and working schedules by algorithms.
EU-OSHA’s research on platform work analyses opportunities, challenges and risks, maps types of platform work, identifies examples of policies, and supports the development of initiatives and practical tools to prevent OSH risks inspired by a range of examples.
