Hazards associated include operating high-risk, heavy machinery, loud noises, exposure to dust, explosions and fires.  It is essential and legally required for employers in this sector (and in all others) to carry out regular risk assessments. Three Online interactive Risk Assessment (OiRA) tools developed by our Italian, Lithuanian and Portuguese partners for mines and quarries seek to make this task more accessible.
