Vote on the adoption of the draft report on the European Year of Skills 2023

The Committee on Employment and Social Affairs has voted on the adoption of the draft report on the European Year of Skills 2023 on 6 February 2023.

The 2023 European Year of Skills, announced by President von der Leyen in her State of the European Union Address, would further promote a mindset of reskilling and upskilling. The aim is to ensure that nobody is left behind in the green and digital transitions and the economic recovery, and to address labour shortages to achieve a better skilled workforce in the Union.

The European Year of Skills will provide a new momentum to reach the EU 2030 social targets of at least 60% of adults in training every year, and at least 78% in employment. It will also help achieve the 2030 Digital Compass targets of at least 80% of adults with basic digital skills and 20 million employed ICT specialists in the EU.
