Sweden embraces the EU Presidency. An opportunity also for occupational safety and health?

From 1 January to 30 June 2023 Sweden holds the Presidency of the Council of the European Union. This is an opportunity to be involved and make progress on crucial issues like economic growth, climate, energy, migration and security.

The priorities of the Swedish Presidency include:

  • Security – unity
  • Resilience – competitiveness
  • Prosperity – green & energy transition
  • Democratic values and the rule of law – our foundation

In May, there will be a high-level meeting in Stockholm focusing on the work environment, including occupational safety and health (OSH), with discussions on Vision Zero approach to work-related deaths, national OSH strategies, and mental health. EU-OSHA will also be releasing its flagship publication “Occupational safety and health in Europe – state and trends 2023”, based on the information available in the OSH Barometer.
